Bobby Zeik

I had the idea for this series for awhile. I wanted to get away from my usual style and go in a new direction. I wanted to try something that I hadn’t seen done before. I have the most fun making art when I’m experimenting, and figuring out new techniques and processes. This series has been a lot of fun so far, and I’ve only just begun to tinker with it, so I’m exited to see where I can take it.

The first round of pieces in this series involves no paint. Just wood, wood stain, and nails. In the future I’ll start to incorporate different mediums, but for now, I plan on seeing what kind of art I can create strictly with wood. Street art and pop art tend to be as contemporary as it gets. Even the process used to create it has only been around for a few decades. I wanted to keep the visual aesthetics associated with those styles, but strip away everything that makes it. Future art from the past.
