Photography has been a part of my everyday life for many years, and I wear it like a comfortable pair of old jeans. It has become as much a part of me as breathing. Using my camera as a tool to turn the ordinary into extraordinary whether for pure aesthetics or attracted by the story, my motivation is to make viewers of my art feel something deeply and see the world differently. Also having a background in paper arts and altering anything I can get my hands on, I decided to merge these two passions together in the form of wearable art – jewelry.
What started out as therapy for my soul, quickly developed into a new way to present my photography. Using actual photo paper, acrylic paints and mediums, jewelry wire, beads and other embellishments, I create my intimate art pieces. My goal with my jewelry is to present the images I’ve created in a new way. Sometimes I make images specifically with the jewelry in mind, and other times I pull from past images.
Having a passion for natural light photography and raw imperfect subjects, I carry that theme forward in my jewelry. By using my chosen medium, I’m able to make it look very organic in nature. In fact some of my abstract pieces even look like precious stones.
